Interviewing the Forget-Me-Notts Team!
Hey guys, Emma here! Last week, I had the opportunity to go on my first ever referrals with the new Forget-Me-Notts team! I was able to ask them some questions about what their experience working for Operation Orphan has been like so far- something I’m sure you guys are dying to hear about!
Daniel and Aaron have been on the team for a couple of months now and are on the go constantly! Daniel said that his experience so far has been a joy- getting the opportunity to support the community and people, while enjoying the positive working environment, is a pleasure. His role is connecting donors to recipients. Forget-Me-Notts referrals are all about being the last link in a chain to reach families in need of help. It’s fulfilling to be able to see out the entire process all the way through. Daniel said he enjoys the ability to talk and connect with referral families. Our referral the other week had Daniel on his toes- the young child receiving the bed was very adamant that he was doing everything correctly. She even signed off the quality check at the end ;)
Aaron, who also works in a supportive role for Waste-Nott-Want-Nott, said that being able to help the environment (through Waste-Nott-Want-Nott) and help kids at the same time is incredibly rewarding. After a few months of collecting and recycling mattresses, he sees how much of a need there is for it- he now has his eye out, spotting mattresses and sofas that have been left out to be thrown away. Aaron recognizes the importance both Waste-Nott-Want-Nott and Forget-Me-Notts holds in helping to stop bed poverty/waste and is a huge enabling factor in the success of both projects.
While in the van driving back from referrals, I got to listen to Aaron talk to Dan about ways they can improve Forget-Me-Notts and the steps Aaron wants to take to make these ideas a reality. The amount of passion he held when talking about possible new projects was inspiring to listen too. Going on the referrals, I could really see the passion and care these guys have for their work in Operation Orphan. Watching how they interact with the families/social workers, install beds and other furniture, and even while driving around in the van, you can see that they don’t just treat the work they’re doing as a job but as a way, to the best of their abilities, help better their community.
Daniel ended the interview by wanting to thank all of the amazing people who have donated and to ask to please keep up the support. We need every single part in the chain to help people in need in our community. We cannot thank you all enough!
Much Love, Emma
