"How many Easter eggs were gifted this Easter?" ... 3017!
This Easter, we supplied a total of 3017 Easter eggs for local vulnerable children across the East Midlands. We were able to achieve this thanks to the help and support of our local community.
We began preparations for our Easter appeal towards the end of February by organizing 2 distributions of Easter eggs: one for social workers, and the other for care groups. We received a request of 1165 Easter eggs from social workers, and 2448 Easter eggs for other care groups. Therefore, resulting in a grand total of 3613 Easter eggs being requested for children this Easter.
The need for Easter eggs has never been this high before, however, we felt determined nonetheless to try our best with supplying everything. We ensure all social workers receive their requested Easter eggs as they provide targetted support towards the most vulnerable children. Thus, if we do not receive enough Easter eggs by the deadline date for social workers, we supply the leftover Easter eggs using charity funds. However, we did not have to use any of our funds this year as all 1165 requested Easter eggs were fulfilled by donations from our local community! You can read more about our 1st distribution by clicking onto the following links.
As we neared closer towards the 2nd distribution date, we realised that we would not have enough Easter eggs to fulfill everyone’s requests. Thankfully, we had raised £1220 to buy additional Easter eggs, which was a big help! You can read more about what we did with the money raised by clicking onto the following link.
With the help of the financial donations, we were able to provide 1852 Easter eggs for other care groups. Thus, altogether we were able to gather 3017 Easter eggs to gift to vulnerable children this Easter.
Despite not reaching our target goal, we are thrilled to have been so close! We have never hit the 3000 Easter egg mark in the past, so this has definitely been a big achievement - every single Easter egg donated was with the help of our local community. Therefore, if you decided to support us by gathering Easter eggs, or by financially donating, we are so grateful and these gifts will definitely help bring smiles to thousands of children’s faces. That’s 3017 vulnerable children who will be receiving an Easter egg this Easter, all thanks to the help and support of our local community.
Thank you all so much, and we look forward to future Christmas and Easter appeals which will be project co-ordinated by future interns. It has been a pleasure taking on the Christmas and Easter appeals - I have learnt so much from my experiences and I look forward to seeing how the interns after me will shape the projects.
Many thanks, Nicole
