Post-Referral Reflections

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of joining Matt out on the road for a day of referrals; together we installed 2 sets of drawers, a single bed, a cot bed, and of course, all of the cuddly bedding, blankets, and soft toys to make the children’s new beds oh so dreamy.

During the first referral, mum thanked me and Matt repeatedly as we were building the drawers and bed. She explained how she recently had surgery done and is unfortunately in a lot of pain because of it, and she was so thankful that we were making up the items because it would have been really difficult and time-consuming for her to do so.

Drawers galore!

The second referral was of a cot bed for a young child, and we were able to give the family a beautiful and sturdy bed which had been donated to us by one of our lovely supporters. I helped mum with choosing what duvet cover, blankets, and stuffed animals she wanted to go on it, and it was so sweet to be able to dress the bed, making it super cozy for the child to get a good nights sleep in.

I feel immensely grateful to be a part of such a special service that is directly helping children and families feel comfortable, safe, and secure in the space that should be all of these things- their homes. By creating a good sleeping environment, we are helping these children rest well at night massively impacting their day-to-day lives. It truly is a team effort, and we are so grateful to be in a position to help the UK’s most vulnerable. Thank you.
