Exciting update on the clinic!
It’s amazing to see how quickly and efficiently this barely functional building has been converted and extended to an amazing facility with a fully covered waiting area, consulting room, triage area and small ward.
Completing this task was not easy. The team worked amazingly hard to get all the building equipment not only across the river on the canoe, but then into the village over rough ground mostly by tractor and motor-kings.
We are now working in conjunction with the Ghana Health Authority to provide a 24 hour facility serving the people of this incredibly remote and neglected area.
The ambulance canoe is also fully operational with a new outboard motor carrying the extremely sick across the ever swelling Volta River to the King’s Medical Centre.
Going forward we are looking to add a health, hygiene, water and sanitation program as part of the initiative to reduce sickness and mortality, particularly in the child population.
