Trent College DofE complete their Bronze award!
During these four girls time volunteering for Operation Orphan as part of their Bronze DofE award they completed a broad range of activities in several of our projects.
Each week these girls came with a smile on their face and got stuck into each task we had for them.
Our DofE students allowed us to expand the capacity of our Keep A Child Warm project as we were able to distribute warm clothing to four homes in Hungary. Without these hard working girls the process would have been a much slower one.
Committing to 12 weeks of volunteering is a huge undertaking especially on top of already busy schedules but this team were dedicated and in return gained a valuable insight into the running of Operation Orphan.
Millie:
‘I have really enjoyed my time here and have completed a range of things from cutting wrapping paper to sorting clothes. Not only that but I believe the organisation stands for something very inspiring. Being able to help children who can’t afford simple necessities is something I am proud to say I helped with’.
Ruby:
‘I had previously been to Operation Orphan with school and really enjoyed it. It is very fun and eye-opening and everything you do goes to a good cause’.
Panusha:
‘I have learnt not to take things for granted. It has been an eye-opening experience that will stick with me forever and has motivated me to keep volunteering at places who help people less fortunate’.
Piya:
‘The pictures in the office remind me weekly of the help that I am able to give and its amazing that I can make an impact from so many miles away. The staff are so friendly and makes it an easy process!’.
