What a great year!!
Hello everyone, this year has been packed full of hard work from everyone in the community, helping us achieve our goal of keeping vulnerable children warm, safe, healthy, and learning. We want to share with you some of the ways your support has impacted our projects across the world.
Donations
This year we have seen hundreds of donations including large blankets, hats, coats, and bedding in and out of the office. We are so grateful to everyone who has donated and continued to support our projects over the years. One huge source of donations has come from our wonderful knitters/crocheters across the country - the large 6x4ft blankets have become a huge part of who we are especially in our mission to keep children warm both here in the UK and abroad. If you want to join the wonderful community group run by one of our amazing volunteers and share your knitting/crochet work please look to the Operation Orphan Crafting Chat on Facebook. Thank you all so much.
Waste-Nott Want-Nott
For those who don't know what Waste-Nott Want-Nott is, it is a wholly owned trading subsidiary of Operation Orphan that collects and responsibly recycles household bulky waste items like mattresses, fridges, and sofas. This year has been huge for our small team as we grow and expand the business. We want to thank everyone who has used our service, we are so happy to have helped. If you would like to book a collection for the New Year please follow the link below.
Christmas selection box appeal
For those who haven't met our new intern - this is Gwen, she is on her placement with Operation Orphan for the year. One project the Intern is responsible for is our Christmas selection box appeal which aims to collect and distribute chocolate gifts to vulnerable children across the East Midlands. This year our request was higher than ever at just over 4800 selection boxes. We are so happy that with the support of our wonderful community and local businesses, we were able to achieve our goal. A huge well done to Gwen who did such a great job at coordinating the project from start to finish. If you want to read more about our Christmas project please read the blog linked below.
Volunteers
Lastly, we would like to say a HUGE thank you to all of our volunteers who give their time to help keep our projects running. We have a fantastic team of people who donate their time and effort throughout the year helping us with various things like our packing days, fundraising events, unpacking your wonderful donation and so much more. From the bottom of our hearts thank you so much to every single one of you!
Office closure
Our office will be closed over Christmas to give our amazing team a well-earned break. We will be back in the New Year to get back to any messages/voicemails left during this time - we will be away from 12:30 pm Friday 20th December - 9:00 am 6th January.
The team at Operation Orphan wishes you a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!!
See you in 2025!
