Every (two) Penny Counts

Mulbarton Infant School have been helping Operation Orphan for almost 5 years now. Most of the support has been for Pencott Valley Primary School in Uganda.

This Christmas we took a retiring collection from the Nativity Performances and raised a huge £400.  We are really pleased with this and are really grateful to the parents and children for being so generous.

Having supported Operation Orphan for as long as we have, sometimes you wonder how much these smaller children really remember about the charity, but last week I saw first hand the impact that it’s had on some children.

One little girl who left Mulbarton Infant School 3 years ago, and doesn’t even go to Mulbarton Junior School, came to watch her sister in the School Nativity this afternoon.  At the end when we were collecting for Operation Orphan she had literally handfuls of 2p coins.  Jokingly I said, “You look as though you’ve been saving those up,” to which she replied, “We have a special box on our shelf for Operation Orphan and all year we put our 2p coins in it so we brought them with us this afternoon.”  Then she rushed off to her dad to get some more.
